Firkin Ten Tasting Notes
Official tasting notes
There’s a time when you need a dram. Whether you have had a hell of a day, you want time for reflection or simply to get over the jet lag.
When you’ve had that kind of day, this is the firkin whisky you need. Firkin Ten is bright and lively with a pantry full of kitchen spice.
This whisky will enliven and intrigue you, and it hangs around to remind you that life is so Firkin good.
Ed's review
Colour: Natural colour. Light amber, coating my copita.
Nose: Part caramelised red orchard apples. Vanilla custard pastries, served with a latte. Cinnamon and nutmeg. An underlying cereal note.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. More of those orchard apples, together with peaches. Pain au raisin next to thick-cut lemon and orange marmalade on the breakfast table. Creamy milk chocolate. Plenty of spice, but in a bright, warming manner - rather than hot.
Finish: Medium to long finish. Spiced orange marmalade leaves you ready for another sip.
About Firkin Ten Benrinnes 2008 Whisky
Firkin Whisky Company want to take you on a journey with Firkin Ten. They’ve married whisky from the Benrinnes distillery in Aberlour, Speyside with the tangy and spicy richness of Portuguese Madeira wine. Sounds crazy, but in their double wood hand-built casks; it’s just crazy enough to work.
Firkin's custom single cask use a combination of American first-fill Bourbon staves and new French Limousin oak staves with a custom char. This Double Oak cask, in combination with the spicy richness of Madeira, creates a unique flavour profile. What emerges is rich, lively and a tad spicy.

What about taxes?
All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.
UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.
We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well.
For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. As customs policies vary widely from country to country, TopWhiskies has no control over these charges, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. If you refuse to pay any import duties and taxes, this could result in the goods being destroyed by customs or being returned back to us - any refund offered would include a deduction of our costs.
Which couriers do you use?
In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL.
