About this Little Brown Dog release

This is a limited edition release that forms part of Little Brown Dog’s Experimental Spirit Series. To create unique spirit, Andrew took his silky, rich, Aberdeenshire Foraged Gin, and matured it for 7 months in a sweet vermouth cask. The result is the best gin for a Negroni, ever!

Intense, complex and luxuriously intricate gin. Meticulously constructed with the aim of turning your negroni up to 11.

Combining their skills as distillers, with their experience of cask management, Andrew and Chris have balanced the petrichor and juniper of their Aberdeenshire Foraged Gin, with the gentle spice and orange zest flavours that have developed maturing in the vermouth cask.

For a negroni it’ll stand up to the 1:1:1 ratio of gin, vermouth and amaro, or be controversial and experiment with reduced amounts of vermouth, or even no vermouth - you absolute rebel, you.

360 bottles from a single cask, this is a one-off, never to be repeated again.

Meet The Founders

Dr Andrew Smith and Chris Reid

Little Brown Dog Spirits was founded by Dr Andrew Smith and Chris Reid. They run an independent bottler and micro-distillery based in rural Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

They take their name from Andrew’s beloved dog, whose nickname was the little brown dog. She followed him everywhere on all his distillery visits and was his constant companion. She passed away in 2022 aged 15 but lives on in spirit. Two more little brown dogs, Winnie and Peedie joined the team in 2020 and 2023.

Chris and Andrew started Little Brown Dog in 2018. Based on Chris’s farm they combine a passion for their surrounding area with in-depth knowledge (read intense geekery!) of distilling and cask maturation.
