About This Lindores Abbey whisky

Lindores Single Malt MCDXCIV is the first whisky to be produced at Lindores Abbey in over 500 years. It is a special place. Lindores is recognised as the site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky way back in 1494! MCDXCIV represents the year 1494 in Roman characters.

A long wash fermentation period coupled with Lindores Abbey’s unusual sister spirit stills set up produces a single malt of remarkable character for its age. The Sister Spirit Stills enhance the excellent flavours captured during the long fermentation period, through additional copper contact. It's then matured for around three and a half years in bourbon barrels, red wine barriques, and sherry butts.

An excellent, award-winning, whisky from Lindores Abbey. And an exciting promise of great things to come from this ancient-yet-young distillery.
