Woody's tasting notes

Nose: Golden syrup, oranges and raisins accompanied with an oaky musk.

Palate: An oily and silky mouthfeel with citrus zest and dried fruits. White chocolate butter cream, malt cake and toasted almonds.

Finish: Medium in length with aniseed and nutmeg.

Ed's review

Colour: Medium, bright gold. Thick in the glass with pronounced legs.

Nose: Redcurrants and toffee. Oak and leather.

Palate: Full mouthfeel with a satisfying texture. Lots of sherried fruits with redcurrants, plums, and berries. An orange citrus notes and a high quality malt backbone. A touch of woodspice.

Finish: Sherried fruit and malt fade into bright spice.

Overall: A delicious, classically highland, dram.

Woodrow's of Edinburgh brings us a standout 30-year-old blended malt scotch as part of their Warehouse Reserve range, created by founder Woody Tan. This Highland whisky is a mix of whiskies from well-known distilleries like Dalmore, Glenmorangie, Glenturret, and Clynelish, resulting in a beautifully balanced and layered character. Distilled on January 20, 1994, and bottled on November 19, 2024, it’s been aged in sherry casks with a final touch in first-fill bourbon barrels. Bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.5%, with no chill filtration or added colour, it’s a pure and bold expression. With just 252 bottles available, it’s a rare find for whisky enthusiasts.

How much is shipping?

Shipping charges are calculated during checkout, depending on where you live and how many bottles you’re buying. It's usually more cost effective to ship two or more bottles, particularly for international orders. The perfect excuse to treat yourself to an extra bottle!

What about taxes?

All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.

UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.

We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well, so there'll be no further bills to pay.

For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. Which couriers do you use?

In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL. Orders are despatched from our UK warehouse Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.

Carbon neutral?

Yes, all our deliveries are carbon neutral. We work with Planet to estimate the carbon impact of each delivery, and then purchase carbon removal credits to offset the emissions.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
