About this Woodrow's whisky
This 17-year-old Glentauchers is a confident, full-bodied Speyside single malt from Woodrow's of Edinburgh, released as part of the Warehouse Reserve range and selected by founder Woody Tan. Distilled on 16 October 2008 and bottled on 20 January 2026, it has spent its entire maturation full term in a single sherry butt (cask 901120A).
Glentauchers is a distillery more commonly encountered in blends, where its naturally fruity, weighty spirit provides structure and sweetness. When given time in a quality sherry cask, that underlying character comes to the fore in a particularly generous and expressive way. Full-term sherry maturation allows the spirit and cask to evolve together slowly, rather than relying on a finishing period to add flavour late in the process. The result here is a whisky that feels cohesive, rounded, and deeply integrated.
Bottled at a formidable 63.2% ABV, this is a powerful yet controlled dram, retaining its natural colour and bottled without chill filtration to preserve texture and intensity. Despite the strength, Woody’s tasting notes point to balance rather than brute force: fresh strawberries, toffee, white chocolate, and warm brioche on the nose lead into an oily, rounded palate of caramel, milk chocolate, croissant, ripe fruit, and soft stone fruit. The finish is long and warming, with lingering toffee and gentle spice — ginger and nutmeg providing lift and structure rather than heat.
With an outturn of 304 bottles, this is a serious sherried Speyside whisky that rewards patience and attention. It showcases Glentauchers at its most indulgent and expressive, and reflects Woodrow’s confidence in letting a single cask speak clearly and without compromise.
