About this Woodrow's whisky
This 9-year-old Dalmunach is a bright, character-driven Speyside single malt bottled by Woodrow's of Edinburgh as part of the Warehouse Reserve range. Distilled on 8 August 2016 and bottled on 20 January 2026, it captures Dalmunach at an engaging stage of maturity: bright, expressive, and full of clarity.
Dalmunach is one of Speyside’s newer distilleries, built on the site of the historic Imperial Distillery and designed with modern efficiency and precision in mind. Its spirit is typically clean, fruity, and gently weighty, with a natural balance between orchard fruit sweetness and a subtle waxy, cereal-led backbone. That makes it particularly well suited to bourbon cask maturation, where the character of the distillate can shine without distraction.
This release comes from a single bourbon barrel (cask 759), allowing the whisky to develop in a measured, unhurried way. American oak contributes soft sweetness and structure, while preserving the distillery’s fresh, fruit-forward profile. The result is a whisky that feels open and honest - nothing overworked, just well-judged maturation doing its job.
On the nose, it opens light and inviting, with pear and apple leading the way, followed by gentle honey and fudge notes. The palate introduces a touch more depth, becoming slightly earthy and waxy, with lemon zest, stewed apples, and warming cinnamon adding complexity. The finish is medium to long, lingering with star anise, nutmeg, and a final lift of zesty lemon that keeps things fresh and balanced.
Bottled at cask strength (52.8% ABV) with natural colour and without chill filtration, this is a whisky that rewards both neat sipping and careful dilution. With an outturn of 255 bottles, it’s a concise snapshot of modern Speyside whisky done well: clean, characterful, and quietly confident.
