About this Woodrow's whisky

Woodrow’s of Edinburgh presents this characterful 17-year-old Dailuaine, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2025 after full maturation in a unique ex-Mortlach oloroso sherry hogshead. This intriguing cask, which previously held whisky from neighbouring Speyside distillery Mortlach, has lent an extra layer of richness and depth to Dailuaine’s already weighty and meaty spirit style. The result is a whisky full of complexity, texture, and depth, reflecting the best of both Speyside powerhouses.

Bottled at cask strength (58.7%), with natural colour and no chill filtration, this release is limited to just 222 bottles.

On the nose, it’s rich and honeyed, with apples, sultanas, and an earthy barley tone balanced by hints of cashew and forest floor. The palate is oily and layered, with walnut, raisin, and syrupy sweetness lifted by bright orange zest and a touch of white pepper. Beneath it all, a gentle savoury note — reminiscent of Mortlach’s signature character — adds depth and intrigue. The finish is long and warming, with spiced star anise and tart red fruit lingering gracefully.

This is a fascinating Speyside single malt. Dailuaine’s robust spirit amplified by a sherry cask that once held another rich and muscular whisky, resulting in a dram that’s both indulgent and distinctive.
