Nose: Muscovado, cinnamon, oaky, cigars, dried fruit, molasses, ginger biscuits, vanilla.

Palate: Woody, cloves, smoky fudge, dates, dark chocolate, ripe bananas, pine, tobacco, orange peels, burnt sugar, soaked sultanas.

Finish: Long and warm, smooth and spicy, leather, fruity, liquorice, roasted coffee beans, maple syrup.

Woodrow's of Edinburgh unveils a remarkable 45-year-old Cuban rum in their Warehouse Reserve range, crafted by founder Woody Tan. Distilled on December 31, 1978, and bottled on August 22, 2024, this extraordinary spirit embodies decades of patient maturation in a single barrique (cask 240641). The result is a deeply complex rum with layers of rich caramel, tropical fruit, and a whisper of spice, all underpinned by the refined elegance characteristic of Cuban rums. Bottled at an impressive cask strength of 58.4%, with natural colour and no chill filtration, this release offers a pure and authentic tasting experience. With only 261 bottles available, it’s a truly rare gem for rum enthusiasts and collectors alike.

How much is shipping?

Shipping charges are calculated during checkout, depending on where you live and how many bottles you’re buying. It's usually more cost effective to ship two or more bottles, particularly for international orders. The perfect excuse to treat yourself to an extra bottle!

What about taxes?

All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.

UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.

We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well, so there'll be no further bills to pay.

For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. As customs policies vary widely from country to country, TopWhiskies has no control over these charges, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. Which couriers do you use?

In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL. Orders are despatched from our UK warehouse Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.

Carbon neutral?

Yes, all our deliveries are carbon neutral. We work with Planet to estimate the carbon impact of each delivery, and then purchase carbon removal credits to offset the emissions.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
