Woody's tasting notes

Nose: Rum-soaked raisin, dark chocolate, Christmas cake.

Palate: Rich, milk & dark Chocolate, Banana bread with walnuts, marzipan, winter spices.

Finish: Fresh-struck candle with hints of baking spices.

Ed's review

Colour: Medium copper. Oily in the glass with slow developing tears.

Nose: Redcurrants and red apples with ocean spray. Rum and raisin fudge. Milled oats on an oak table.

Palate: Medium to full mouthfeel with a fantastic texture. Sherried fruits and more prominent on the palate with redcurrants, raisins, plums and figs. Fruit and nut chocolate. A touch of wood spice.

Finish: The red fruit fade through a burst of maritime character and a touch of spice.

Overall: A really delicious Bunnahabhain that is bound to delight fans.

Woodrow's of Edinburgh presents a standout 16 Year Old Bunnahabhain single malt as part of their Warehouse Reserve range, crafted by founder Woody Tan. Distilled on August 29, 2007, and bottled on February 12, 2024, this Islay whisky spent most of its life in a bourbon hogshead before finishing for 1 year and 8 months in a first-fill American Oak Oloroso sherry hogshead (cask 2140). Bottled at cask strength (54.2%) with natural colour and no chill filtration, it offers a bold and rich profile that captures the essence of Islay. A sure-fire hit for any Bunnahabhain enthusiast.

How much is shipping?

What about taxes?

All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.

UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.

We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well, so there'll be no further bills to pay.

For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. Which couriers do you use?

In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL. Orders are despatched from our UK warehouse Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.

Carbon neutral?

Yes, all our deliveries are carbon neutral. We work with Planet to estimate the carbon impact of each delivery, and then purchase carbon removal credits to offset the emissions.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
