Bunnahabhain 11 Year Old Tasting Notes

Woody's tasting notes

Nose: Christmas cake, vanilla, dried fruit, dates, toffee.

Palate: Toffee, caramel, flame Raisins, dark chocolate.

Finish: Tangy finish with nutmeg and hints of sea salt.

Ed's review

Colour: Natural colour, loose-leaf tea. Coats my glass thickly.

Nose: Rich. Toffee apples meet rum and raisin fudge. Hewn oak and vanilla. Black pepper and star anise. Alcohol is well integrated.

Palate: Thick, full mouthfeel that coats my palate. Rich and generous. Caramelised apples in a sticky toffee saucy spiked with vanilla. Soft, spiced, gingerbread. Coffee and dark chocolate. Alcohol is well integrated, contributing to that full mouthfeel.

Finish: Medium to long finish, velvety. Figs, dried oranges, chocolate, and a little wood spice.

Overall: A delicious whisky - the mouthfeel made it feel particularly luxurious. Great cask finish.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
