About this Woodrow's whisky

Woodrow's of Edinburgh released this punchy 10-year-old single malt from Bunnahabhain (Staoisha) as part of their Warehouse Reserve range, crafted by founder Woody Tan. Distilled on 3 November 2014 and bottled on 5 March 2025, this Islay whisky spent its final three years in a first-fill American oak PX hogshead (cask 10868), adding layers of rich sweetness to Staoisha’s bold, smoky spirit. Bottled at cask strength (52.9%) with natural colour and no chill filtration, the cask yielded just 196 bottles. This is a peated dram with a dark, indulgent edge – Islay meets Pedro Ximénez in delicious harmony.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
