Braes of Glenlivet 28 Year Old Tasting Notes

Woody's tasting notes

Nose: Citrus, heather honey, vanilla, marzipan.

Palate: Citrus, tropical fruit, almond, vanilla, fudge, honey.

Finish: Long finish with cinnamon, cloves, liquorice.

Ed's review

Colour: Natural colour, golden straw. Lots of parallel legs run down the side of my glass.

Nose: Golden syrup, orchard fruits, and cream. Buttery vanilla sponge fresh from the oven and drizzled in honey. Light oak and gentle spice provide structure. Alcohol is well integrated.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. A beautiful, soft sweetness. Green apples and sweet pears. Almond madeleines and fresh vanilla cream. Alcohol is very well integrated, adding body without burn.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Bright, fruity and clean. Pear drop sweets, orchard fruits.

Overall: Another delicious whisky from Woody. I love the sweet orchard fruits in this dram, they are beautifully refined and balanced. A sophisticated but welcoming whisky.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
