Woody's tasting notes

Nose: Varnished oak and a hint of brine, complimented with pineapple and zest.

Palate: Oily and mouth coating, dried mango and fruitcake with an earthiness and leather.

Finish: Medium length of cloves, candied ginger and dark cherry.

Woodrow's of Edinburgh showcases an 11 Year Old Ben Nevis single malt in their Warehouse Reserve range, crafted by founder Woody Tan. Distilled on April 4, 2013, and bottled on July 8, 2024, this Highland whisky highlights the robust and characterful spirit for which Ben Nevis is renowned. Initially matured in a refill hogshead, it was given an exceptional finish of over a year in a first-fill Palo Cortado quarter cask (cask 800364), adding layers of nutty, dry sherry complexity. Bottled at cask strength (53.0%) with natural colour and no chill filtration, this is a pure and unadulterated expression of Highland whisky, with just 139 bottles available for Ben Nevis fans.

How much is shipping?

What about taxes?

All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.

UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.

We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well, so there'll be no further bills to pay.

For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. Which couriers do you use?

In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL. Orders are despatched from our UK warehouse Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.

Carbon neutral?

Yes, all our deliveries are carbon neutral. We work with Planet to estimate the carbon impact of each delivery, and then purchase carbon removal credits to offset the emissions.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
