About This Uncharted Whisky release
This Glentauchers 11 Year Old – Tauchin About a Revolution from Uncharted Whisky Company, founded by Jack Breslin and Dana de Vos, is a rich and rewarding Speyside single malt that showcases the remarkable partnership between Glentauchers’ elegant spirit and full-term Oloroso sherry maturation.
Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2026, this release spent its entire life in a single Oloroso sherry cask (UC062). Full-term maturation allows the cask and spirit to develop together from the very beginning, creating a deeper integration of flavours than a simple finishing period can achieve. The result is a whisky that feels complete, cohesive, and beautifully balanced despite its impressive intensity.
Glentauchers is often celebrated by independent bottlers for its fruity, refined spirit character. Here, the Oloroso cask amplifies those qualities, adding layers of dried fruit, nuts, and rich sweetness while preserving the distillery’s natural elegance beneath.
The nose opens with hazelnuts, sultanas, butterscotch, apricot jam, and hints of dessert wine, creating an inviting and indulgent first impression. The palate immediately delivers that vibrant apricot jam note, rich and silky in texture, before marzipan, dried fruits, and gentle oak emerge to add structure. The sweetness is generous but never excessive, balanced by a subtle dryness from the oak that keeps the whisky poised and engaging.
As the finish develops, the brighter fruit notes gradually retreat, allowing roasted nuts, warming spice, and seasoned oak to take centre stage. The result is a long, satisfying finish that remains balanced right to the final sip.
Bottled at cask strength (60.7% ABV), with natural colour and without chill filtration, this is a whisky that delivers substantial flavour and texture while retaining a surprising degree of finesse. With an outturn of 246 bottles, it is a limited release that highlights just how well Glentauchers can perform when paired with quality sherry wood.
A richly sherried Speyside malt - packed with fruit, nuts, and sweetness, yet balanced by elegance and structure throughout.
