Inchgower 11 Year Old Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh and coastal in character, with bright vanilla, lemon zest, and green apple leading the way. Layers of honeycomb and soft caramel develop alongside gentle floral notes and a faint salty edge typical of Inchgower’s spirit. Oak, with coconut, white chocolate, and toasted almond emerging in the background.
Palate: Creamy and mouthcoating, opening with vanilla fudge, ripe orchard fruits, and buttery shortbread. Citrus oils and sweet malt provide freshness, while the bourbon cask contributes notes of crème brûlée, soft oak spice, and a touch of coconut cream. Beneath the sweetness sits a subtle mineral and slightly briny quality that adds depth and keeps the whisky lively.
Finish: Medium to long, warming and gently drying, with lingering vanilla pod, peppery oak spice, and citrus peel. A soft maritime salinity and sweet malt character remain right through the finish.
About this Tri Carragh whisky
This Inchgower 11 Year Old from Tri Carragh is a beautifully composed Speyside single malt that highlights the distillery’s often-overlooked coastal character through classic bourbon cask maturation.
Distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2026, this whisky comes from a single first fill bourbon barrel, a cask style that suits Inchgower particularly well. Known for producing a spirit with a subtly saline and mineral edge beneath its fruit and malt sweetness, Inchgower often reveals a quietly coastal personality that sets it apart from many of its Speyside neighbours.
The first fill bourbon barrel amplifies those characteristics with layers of vanilla, creaminess, and gentle oak spice, while still allowing the spirit’s freshness and structure to remain intact. The result is a whisky that feels bright and elegant, yet with enough depth and texture to reward slow sipping.
On the nose, fresh vanilla, lemon zest, and green apple lead the way, supported by honeycomb, soft caramel, and delicate floral notes. Beneath that sits a faint salty edge, a hallmark of Inchgower’s spirit, alongside hints of coconut, white chocolate, and toasted almond from the bourbon cask. The palate is creamy and mouthcoating, opening with vanilla fudge, buttery shortbread, and ripe orchard fruits before developing citrus oils, sweet malt, crème brûlée, and soft oak spice. A subtle mineral and lightly briny quality keeps the whisky lively and balanced throughout.
The finish is medium to long, gently warming and slightly drying, with lingering vanilla pod, citrus peel, peppery oak spice, and a final touch of maritime salinity.
Bottled at cask strength (50.5% ABV), with natural colour and without chill filtration, this is a whisky that combines freshness, texture, and understated complexity. With an outturn of just 106 bottles, it’s a tightly limited release that offers a particularly refined expression of Inchgower’s distinctive spirit.
A bright, elegant Speyside malt with a subtle coastal twist - classic bourbon maturation done exceptionally well.
