About this Pintail whisky

Muscat de Rivesaltes is a fortified wine from the Southern French region of Roussillon, commanding a proud Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) status since 1956. The wines differ from the more generic Rivesaltes in that they contain only Muscat d’Alexandria and Muscat à Petits Grains grapes and are aged in small oak barrels.

The wines are always white and, containing a minimum of 100 grams of sugar per litre, honey-sweet with ripe stone fruit characters. Enjoyed largely as an aperitif although locals can be seen consuming glasses of the fruity Muscat at any time of day in the cafés of Roussillon, alongside a simple plate of foie gras.

The ‘finishing’ of this Pintail in an ex-Muscat de Rivesaltes barrel delivers perfectly balanced sweet-yellow fruit characters to the fresh, slightly herbal distillate of the malt, creating a Teaninich 15 Year Old at peak performance.

Meet The Founder

Keith Bonnington

Keith Bonnington has over two decades of experience in the whisky industry, including 11 years at Edrington. He was made Keeper of the Quaich in 2013, and founded The Whisky Cellar in 2016.

His main collection of whiskies is indeed called The Whisky Cellar. These are single cask whiskies bottled all natural, having been through careful review by Keith's tasting panel which has an incredible 200 years of experience between them.

Keith also has a few other excellent labels. There's Brig O'Perth, a historic brand producing highland style blended malts. Easy Sipper, a range of easy-drinking single grain whiskies. And Pintail, a vintage collection of diverse spirits including whisky, sherry and port.
