About this Little Brown Dog release

Andrew and Chris at Little Brown Dog have waited a long time for the right Glen Garioch to release. It’s their most local distillery and they really wanted to do it justice.

Quickly becoming recognised as the “Springbank of the North East”, and not just because Andrew and Chris keep telling people this because they’ve got loads of it in their warehouse…. Glen Garioch now operates its own floor maltings and the wash still is direct fired. While this makes almost no economic sense for a global distillery company such as Beam Suntory to reinstate these features, it makes whisky fans really happy to see it.

It’s also unusually situated, right in the centre of the village of Old Meldrum, surrounded by houses and really tucked away so that lots of people will drive past and miss it.

This small batch release is nearly a single cask. It’s made up from one 1st fill bourbon barrel that is just epic, and a wee 40 litre dribble of a cask remnant from a private bottling of its equally epic sister cask.

Just means there’s a little more of this tropical fruit bomb beauty to go around, this can only be a good thing. Just 337 bottles though for the entire planet earth. Thick, tropical whisky, absolutely delicious.

How much is shipping?

Shipping charges are calculated during checkout, depending on where you live and how many bottles you’re buying. It's usually more cost effective to ship two or more bottles, particularly for international orders. The perfect excuse to treat yourself to an extra bottle!

What about taxes?

All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.

UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.

We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well, so there'll be no further bills to pay.

For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. As customs policies vary widely from country to country, TopWhiskies has no control over these charges, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. If you refuse to pay any import duties and taxes, this could result in the goods being destroyed by customs or being returned back to us - any refund offered would include a deduction of our costs.

Which couriers do you use?

In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL. Orders are despatched from our UK warehouse Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.

Carbon neutral?

Yes, all our deliveries are carbon neutral. We work with Planet to estimate the carbon impact of each delivery, and then purchase carbon removal credits to offset the emissions.

Meet The Founders

Dr Andrew Smith and Chris Reid

Little Brown Dog Spirits was founded by Dr Andrew Smith and Chris Reid. They run an independent bottler and micro-distillery based in rural Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

They take their name from Andrew’s beloved dog, whose nickname was the little brown dog. She followed him everywhere on all his distillery visits and was his constant companion. She passed away in 2022 aged 15 but lives on in spirit. Two more little brown dogs, Winnie and Peedie joined the team in 2020 and 2023.

Chris and Andrew started Little Brown Dog in 2018. Based on Chris’s farm they combine a passion for their surrounding area with in-depth knowledge (read intense geekery!) of distilling and cask maturation.
