About this Little Brown Dog release
Glen Elgin is a distillate that Little Brown Dog enjoy coming back to. Requiring a more delicate approach despite the worm tub condensation, you have to be careful with wood to really display it at its best. This is a fairly special expression of a workhorse distillery however, from a single refill Pineau des Charentes barrique.
Wonderful texture and great balance, presented using a less common cask type.
The label is of meadows and a grasshopper. As a teen, Andrew was sent off to a tiny wee village with his brother in the Charentes region of France for a summer. Here, they would stay with some distant relatives, improve their French and keep their Grandmother happy. Well, the improvement in French was pretty dubious but the two younger brothers did get a taste for the local aperitif, Pineau, and spent a lot of time trying to catch grasshoppers, on hot days in the meadows that surrounded the vines. The family there thought it pretty normal for younger teens to drink wine with meals, but really questioned Andrew drinking coffee at such a young age!
Little Brown Dog are a sentimental bunch at times and this wee dram just transported them back to Charantes and those grasshoppers which is the reason for the label.
