Whiskymaker's Reserve No.6 Tasting Notes
Official tasting notes
Nose: Rich and aromatic with oriental spice, marzipan with rose water, candied ginger and polished oak.
Palate: Rich and mellow with sun-dried Ajwa dates, toasted teacake, and hints of gentle spice.
Finish: Rich and complex with lingering spice.
Ed's review
Colour: Natural colour. Deep bronze, mahogany. Oily in my glass, with legs that develop slowly.
Nose: Deep, rich, heavily sherried fruits - raisins, plumbs, macerated berries. Soft, crumbly, muscovado sugar. Jamaica ginger cake and spiced apple compote. Alcohol is well integrated.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. More rich red fruit with redcurrants, blackcurrants and raisins. Dark malt loaf. Wood spices with cinnamon and cloves. A touch of dark chocolate, a suggestion of tobacco. Alcohol is again well integrated.
Finish: Long finish. Sherried fruits through oak to warming spice that leaves me ready for another sip.
About This Lakes Distillery release
Designing a new whisky requires a framework of sorts. But, there has to be room within it to play, to follow gut feeling and instinct. The Whiskymaker’s Reserve is an artistic exploration of maturation and blending. It evolves flavours and defines a sherry-led signature style for The Lakes Distillery.
Showcasing a sherry-led, wood-forward, and flavour-packed style, each release of The Whiskymaker’s Reserve has the same DNA. Varying in character, they continue to evolve in keeping with The Lakes sherry cask influence and sense of adventure.
Whiskymaker's Reserve 6 is the penultimate whisky in this series. It's a further evolution of The Lakes Distillery's single malt’s sherry-led signature style.
Matured in the finest Oloroso, PX and red wine casks, comprising Spanish and American oak, it is a complex and aromatic whisky. It retains the bold style The Whiskymaker’s Reserve series has become known for. But this release brings exotic spice and delicate fragrant characters to the fore.

What about taxes?
All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.
UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.
We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well.
For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. As customs policies vary widely from country to country, TopWhiskies has no control over these charges, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. If you refuse to pay any import duties and taxes, this could result in the goods being destroyed by customs or being returned back to us - any refund offered would include a deduction of our costs.
Which couriers do you use?
In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL.
