This Laphroaig 14 Year Old from Gleann Mór Spirits forms part of the Rare Find range, bringing together the unmistakably medicinal character of Islay peat with the rich fruit and spice of first fill Oloroso sherry.

Distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2026, this single cask release was finished in a first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead from Bodegas Barbadillo. The active sherry cask provides a natural counterpoint to Laphroaig's powerful coastal spirit, adding dried fruit and sweetness while leaving its iodine, smoke and maritime character firmly intact.

Produced at Laphroaig Distillery, this is a whisky that makes no attempt to disguise its origins. The nose is immediately medicinal, opening with iodine and brine before revealing weathered driftwood, camphor and salty rock pools. Preserved lemon brings a sharp citrus lift, while sea spray reinforces the distinctly coastal character.

On the palate, the whisky becomes beautifully rounded and mouth-coating. Medicinal peat smoke and layered iodine remain at its core, joined by sea spray and the mineral salinity of coastal rock pools. The Oloroso cask then begins to make itself known, introducing dried berries and a richer underlying sweetness. Beach bonfire embers weave through the fruit, creating an appealing contrast between smoke, sherry and salt.

The finish is long and evolving. Medicinal smoke gradually recedes into sweeter fruit before a final mineral note of coastal stone and lingering salinity brings the whisky back towards its Islay roots.

Bottled at cask strength (56.2% ABV), with natural colour and without chill filtration, this release preserves the intensity and texture of the original cask.
