About this Rare Find whisky
This Dalmunach 9 Year Old from Gleann Mór Spirits joins the Rare Find range as a vibrant and contemporary Speyside single malt, combining youthful distillery character with the richness of an extended 17-month finish in a first fill Oloroso quarter cask.
Distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2026, this release matured in cask #411131, where the small size of the quarter cask accelerated the interaction between spirit and wood. The result is a whisky with impressive concentration, layering Dalmunach's naturally fresh fruit profile with deeper notes of dried fruit, chocolate, spice, and toasted oak.
Built on the site of the former Imperial Distillery, Dalmunach Distillery is one of Speyside's newest distilleries, producing a clean, fruity spirit that responds particularly well to active maturation. The Oloroso quarter cask adds considerable richness while preserving the whisky's lively and energetic character.
The nose opens with lemon sponge cake, powdered bonbons, thick vanilla custard, and creamy toffee cups. As it develops, ginger spice, strawberry bootlaces, and hedgerow berries emerge, creating an inviting balance between confectionery sweetness and fresh fruit. The palate is bright and mouthcoating, revealing layers of apples, pears, strawberries, raspberries, and redcurrants before moving into richer flavours of burnt toffee, chocolate walnut brownies, and freshly baked gingerbread.
The finish is long and evolving, beginning with vibrant berry fruits before gradually shifting towards brighter citrus notes, leaving the whisky feeling fresh despite its richness.
Bottled at cask strength (60.6% ABV), with natural colour and without chill filtration, this is a whisky of considerable intensity that remains remarkably well balanced. With an outturn of just 195 bottles, it offers an excellent example of how carefully managed active cask maturation can enhance a youthful Speyside malt.
A lively and indulgent Dalmunach - bursting with fruit, pastry sweetness, and Oloroso richness, yet finishing with refreshing citrus lift.
