Nose: bright, leafy sherry with ripe hedgerow berries, plump sultanas, shortbread, buttery popcorn and bourbon biscuits.
Palate: Rich, oily and mouth-coating, unfolding with chocolate digestives, red and black berries, butterscotch and building cinnamon and pepper spice.
Finish: Long and lingering with ripe berry fruit and dark chocolate.
About this Gleann Mor Rare Find
This Ben Nevis 12 Year Old from Gleann Mór Spirits joins the Rare Find range as a powerful Highland single malt, combining the weighty character of Ben Nevis with the richness of first fill Oloroso sherry.
Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2026, this single cask release began its maturation in an ex-bourbon barrel before being finished in first fill Oloroso sherry. The finishing cask brings additional dried fruit, chocolate and warming spice, while retaining the robust, oily character for which Ben Nevis Distillery is known.
The nose opens brightly, with leafy sherry character and ripe hedgerow berries alongside plump sultanas. Shortbread and buttery popcorn add richness, while bourbon biscuits bring together notes of malt, chocolate and gentle sweetness. It is an inviting combination, with the sherry influence adding depth without obscuring the underlying spirit.
On the palate, the whisky becomes noticeably richer and more substantial. An oily, mouth-coating texture carries chocolate digestives, red and black berries and smooth butterscotch. Cinnamon and pepper gradually build through the development, balancing the sweeter fruit and chocolate notes with a warming, spicy edge.
The finish is long and lingering, with ripe berry fruit gradually giving way to dark chocolate and drying spice. The Oloroso influence remains present throughout, adding richness and complexity while allowing Ben Nevis's distinctive character to remain at the heart of the whisky.
Bottled at cask strength (56.6% ABV), with natural colour and without chill filtration, this is an expressive single cask release with an outturn of just 167 bottles.
