About this Fib Whisky
This Pictish Wolf Volume I release from Fib Whisky is a powerful small-batch blend that perfectly captures the Mundy brothers’ approach to whisky making: bold cask selection, inventive blending, and plenty of personality. Created by whiskymakers Iain and Andrew Mundy, the Pictish series is all about full-bodied, flavour-driven releases, and this first Wolf edition is no exception.

Despite the youthful age statement, the blend is built from a carefully chosen mix of mature components. At its core is a 13-year-old Cameronbridge grain whisky matured in a PX sherry hogshead, providing rich sweetness and depth. This is layered with 5-year-old FinGlassie (peated spirit from Inchdairnie) matured in a Banyuls barrique, bringing smoke, red-fruit richness, and structure, alongside a portion of 10-year-old Cameronbridge from a first-fill bourbon hogshead, adding creaminess and vanilla lift. The combination creates a whisky that feels far older and weightier than the age suggests.
The influence of the Banyuls wine cask and PX sherry wood gives the blend a dark, dessert-like richness, while the peated FinGlassie keeps everything lively and slightly untamed. On the nose, smoked bacon drizzled with maple syrup sets the tone: savoury, sweet, and immediately inviting. The palate follows with thick wood smoke balanced by salted caramel, creating a satisfying contrast between richness and coastal freshness. The finish lingers with tangy sea salt, gentle tannins, and a final wave of smoke that ties the whole whisky together.
Bottled at cask strength (58.6% ABV), with natural colour and no chill filtration, this release keeps all its texture and intensity intact. With just 340 bottles produced, Pictish Wolf Volume I is a confident, modern blended Scotch that shows how creative cask work and thoughtful blending can deliver huge flavour in a compact, limited release.
