Pictish Boar Tasting Notes

The dram balances rich, fruity sweetness with underlying hints of dark, peppery smoke.

It starts with mouth-watering strawberry bonbon notes, and ends with deep toasted caramel tones.

It may be sweet, but the Pictish Boar is fierce!

About this Fib Whisky

Pictish Boar Volume I is a blended whisky made from just two single casks - no more, no less! The malt element is an Ardmore 15 Year Old finished for 2.5 months in Mourvèdre (a French red wine), and a 15 Year Old Strathclyde single grain finished for 2.5 months in a Banyuls (aFrench fortified sweet wine). The split is 80% Strathclyde - 20% Ardmore - Bottled at 56.8% batch strength.

This is the second in Fib Whisky’s Pictish blended series, following on from Pictish Beastie! With a quick blast in the two ridiculously fresh and juicy wine casks from Coume Del Mas Winery on the Catalan border of France, the wrath of this legendary Caledonian beast is legendary. Anger him at your peril!

Meet the Team

Iain and Andrew Mundy

Founded by the late-Aedan Burt and Iain Mundy, Fib Whisky is now run by Iain and his brother Andrew.

With an 'all hands on deck' approach, Iain looks after production, the warehouse, and sales. Iain is also a qualified musician and freelances in a folk-pop duo, Braw, who released their debut album in 2021. Braw even penned an anthem about the amber nectar, Whisky in Hand, which featured in the Scottish charts.

With a background in gin distillation and Scottish spirit experiences, Andrew’s passion is in tasting, crafting and blending spirits. He brings his knowledge to aid the cask selection and blending. Andrew also sings and plays in Braw, and has experience singing across Scotland.
