About this Dram Mor whisky
This Dràm Mòr Lost Speyside 11 Year Old offers a rare glimpse into the now-closed Speyside distillery, captured at an ideal moment in its maturation and gently elevated by a refill white port hogshead finish. Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2025, it is presented at cask strength (55.3%), with natural colour and no chill filtration, and is limited to just 255 bottles.
So-called “lost” distilleries occupy a special place in Scotch whisky, offering flavours that can no longer be recreated. This particular Speyside spirit leans into the region’s classic strengths - softness, fruit, and balance - while the white port finish adds finesse rather than intensity. Refill port casks are especially effective here, lending gentle sweetness and nutty depth without masking the underlying distillery character.
The nose is understated and inviting, opening with green apple and toasted almond; deceptively gentle, hinting at the elegance to follow. On the palate, the whisky shows Speyside at its best: sweet and fruity, yet measured and precise. Honey, dried apricot, and walnut unfold slowly, with the white port influence weaving through the spirit rather than dominating it. The finish is long and lingering, carrying subtle white port sweetness alongside dried fruits and toasted nuts.
A thoughtful, quietly confident dram that rewards patience; a beautifully balanced example of lost Speyside character enhanced by careful cask selection.
