About this Chapter 7 Whisky
This 26-year-old single grain Scotch whisky is a poised and quietly elegant release from Chapter 7, bottled under the Monologue range, a series that focuses on allowing individual spirits to speak clearly, without embellishment.
Distilled in April 1997 at Invergordon Distillery, this whisky has spent its entire maturation resting in a bourbon hogshead, a cask choice that favours balance, texture, and clarity over overt wood influence. After more than a quarter of a century in oak, the result is a grain whisky that feels composed, polished, and deeply drinkable.
Invergordon is renowned for producing creamy, expressive grain spirit, and long maturation like this allows those natural characteristics to shine. On the nose, aromatic vanilla pods and coconut lead the way, followed by citrus peel and softly integrated oak. The palate is refined and smooth, unfolding layers of toffee, honey, and gently spiced orchard fruits, all carried on a silky, rounded texture that belies its age. The finish is understated but persistent, lingering with almond, sweet spice, and a subtle note of oak polish.
Bottled at 44.2% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration, this release leans into elegance rather than intensity; a thoughtful, contemplative grain whisky that rewards slow sipping. With an outturn of just 180 bottles, it represents a rare opportunity to explore well-aged single grain whisky at its most graceful.
