Peated Blended Malt 4 Year Old Tasting Notes

Nose: Exquisite aromas of vanilla, caramel, and warm spice rise from the glass, underpinned by classic Islay peat. Hints of burnt toffee and a gentle fruitiness add depth to the smoky backbone.

Palate: Smooth and well-balanced, with sweet notes of caramel and vanilla meeting bold peat smoke. A touch of spice builds across the palate, offering a rich yet approachable dram with just the right amount of weight.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering smoke, subtle sweetness, and a final kick of spice that fades slowly.

Overall: A characterful, peated whisky that delivers the classic Islay experience in a deceptively smooth and balanced package. Sweet, smoky, and slightly spicy, it’s a bold dram that punches above its age.

About GreatDrams Peated Blended Malt 4 Year Old

GreatDrams released this lively 4-year-old Islay single malt as part of their Blended Cask Series, selected by founders Greg and Kirsty Dillon. This is a tea-spooned malt from a famous Islay distillery. Unfortunately we're not allowed to say which distillery. But in a completely unrelated aside, I saw a Badger this morning.

Distilled in October 2017 and bottled in October 2022, it was matured in a single first-fill ex-bourbon cask (GD-PBM-17), bringing bright notes of vanilla, sea spray, and sweet smoke to the fore. Bottled at 48.2% with natural colour and no chill filtration. The distillery may be a secret, but the classic Islay character shines through in every sip.
