Heroes and Heretics Stateside Tasting Notes

Official notes

Nose: Freshly cut hay and dried apricots.

Palate: Peaches in syrup, buttered corn with a dash of dark chocolate and red chilli.

Finish: A long finish of apple pie & sponge cake.

Ed's notes

Colour: Natural colour; coats my copita with a thick gloss. Prominent legs quickly slide down the side of the glass.

Nose: Corn bread soaked in golden syrup. Ginger nut biscuits dipped in tea. The skin of red apples during Autumn. Oak, wood spice, and vanilla as the cask makes an appearance. The alcohol is well integrated with no burn.

Palate: Full mouthfeel. Warm buttered corn bread. Jamaican ginger cake and custard. Milk chocolate covered nuts. A menthol characteristic adds a touch of mint. Again, alcohol is well integrated, lending body without heat.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Starts gentle, and then builds through layers of warmth to a spicy conclusion.

About this whiskey

Stateside Bourbon is a Heaven Hill whiskey bottled by indie bottlers Heroes & Heretics. Heaven Hill Distilleries is a private, American family-owned and operated distillery. Founded in 1935 it's headquarters are in Bardstown, Kentucky. The distillery makes the Heaven Hill brand of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. They age their whiskeys in American Oak. American oak is dense and contains a lot of monogalloyl glucose. This gives the whiskey a mellow, smooth vanilla flavour profile.

Imagine walking in fields of gold, the sun warming your skin. The sprawling farm estates of Kentucky spreading out beyond the horizon. You relax, feeling great and at ease, taking things slow, one day at a time. The comforting aroma of fresh cut hay and dried apricots fills your nose. The glorious taste of peaches in syrup and buttered corn. A dash of dark chocolate and red chilli delight on the tongue. A wonderful, long finish of apple pie and sponge cake. There’s nothing quite like this beautiful thrill, with compliments, from Louisville.

How much is shipping?

What about taxes?

All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.

UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.

We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well.

For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. As customs policies vary widely from country to country, TopWhiskies has no control over these charges, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. If you refuse to pay any import duties and taxes, this could result in the goods being destroyed by customs or being returned back to us - any refund offered would include a deduction of our costs.

Which couriers do you use?

In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL.
