Tullibardine 2012 Tasting Notes

Ed's tasting notes:

Colour: Natural colour, light to medium amber. Coats the sides of my copita, with legs that continue to cling on.

Nose: Gentle and welcoming. Soft peach skins, ripened in the sun on the oak kitchen table. Hazelnuts and peanuts - natural, not salted. A touch of sweetness from vanilla fudge.

Palate: Medium to full mouthfeel. Fruit and nut milk chocolate, with raisins and more hazelnuts. Sticky figs and ripe plums. A touch of spice adds gentle warmth.

Finish: Medium to long finish. The fruit and nut chocolate continues. The spice lingers, leaving one's palate ready for another dram.

Ledaig 2008 Tasting Notes

Ed's tasting notes

Colour: Natural colour: medium amber. Coats my copita with oily legs running down the side of the glass.

Nose: Soft, sweet smoke mingles with tropical notes. Like snacking on mango next to a fire on some beach far, far away. Or, closer to home, barbecuing sticky pineapple nears the woods on an Autumn evening. A definite meaty note, like glazed pork ribs or honey roast gammon. And that meat is seasoned with chilli, pepper, and cloves.

Palate: Medium to full mouthfeel. That meaty Ledaig spirit works so well with the sweet Marsala wine. As on the nose, glazed pork ribs over the BBQ, where smoke acts as a seasoning - complimenting, not overpowering. Sweetness with tropical fruits like mango and pineapple, as if you have a cocktail to go with those ribs. Or a taco, crammed with juicy pork, lime, and pineapple. The alcohol is well integrated, adding body and a gentle spice - with no burn.

Finish: Medium length finish. Sticky glazed pork which melts in your mouth, leaving a balance of sweetness and spice.

Single Note Caol Ila 12 Year Old

Meet the Founder

Rick van Diepen

Single malt scotch whisky and jazz music are Rick van Diepen's passions.

Rick has been a whisky enthusiast since 2005, when he did an exchange program in Edinburgh. He joined the University's whisky society and visited distilleries across Scotland. Caol Ila distillery was his favourite.

So that's exactly where he started, when he launched his own Independent Bottler label, Single Note Whisky, with a single cask Caol Ila release.

These are whiskies with soul and style, perfect to enjoy with beautiful music in the background.
