Colheita Tasting Notes

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: Vibrant and fruity with hints of plums, spiced pickled cherries and candied orange.

Palate: Complex with notes of prunes, stewed plums.

Finish: Lasting with warming cinnamon.

Ed's Tasting Notes

Nose: A deep medley of fruit: plums, raisins, and blackberries. A gentle sweetness, as if that fruit has been macerated in a sugary syrup. A touch of spice.

Palate: A rich mouthfeel that coats the palate. More of those fruits I found on the nose: plums, raisins and blackberries. Brown sugar, a touch of vanilla. Wood spice adds an extra warming dimension.

Finish: A medium to long, complex, finish; more fruit, ending in a little spice.

About The Lakes Whiskymaker's Edition

Colheita is the third release from The Lakes Distillery's Whiskymaker's Editions series. The limited edition whisky explores the art of blending and oak maturation. We love listening to Dhavall Gandhi, the whiskymaker at The Lakes Distillery, talk about these single malt whiskies. He puts his passion, energy and expertise into each and every whisky, and his enthusiasm is infectious. You can read more about The Lakes Distillery's core collections here.

Colheita (Col-yate-a) means “harvest” in Portuguese. It refers to the exclusive use of grapes from a single crop to create a vintage Tawny Port in Portugal.

If you like port, this whisky is for you. In fact, if you like whisky that's cool and experimental, this is for you.
