Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Rosemary, kippers, grilled lemon and vanilla pod.
Palate: Citrus brightness mellowed with smoked barley and seaweed.
Finish: Crunchy brown sugar, poached pear and sesame snaps.
About Chapter 7 Caol Ila 9 Year Old
With less prominent smoke than some of its Islay neighbours, Caol Ila whisky is different from its neighbours. Its mashing, fermentation regime, stills and cut points are unique and it produces a fruity malt that is likeable even for those who don't like peat at first. Chapter 7's Malt Chaser was introduced to peaty whiskies by a well-aged Caol Ila.
This particular cask comes from Chapter 7's stock of Caol Ila hogsheads that were re-racked into first-fill bourbon casks over four years ago. They cut this whisky to 50.4% alcohol by volume where they think it performs best, and lets out all the aromas. Every now and then you will see a release of Chapter 7 Caol Ila from Chapter 7, as they're are most fond of this distillery.

What about taxes?
All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.
UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.
We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well, so there'll be no further bills.
For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. As customs policies vary widely from country to country, TopWhiskies has no control over these charges, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. Which couriers do you use?
In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL. Orders are despatched from our UK warehouse Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.
