About Chapter 7 Whisky's Auchentoshan 22 Year Old
Auchentoshan is the only Scottish distillery to triple distil all its whisky. You tend to only see triple distillation in Irish Whisky. The process is rather complex and the new make spirit that comes out of the 3rd still is at 82% ABV.
Auchentoshan's head distiller argues that Auchentoshan is much cleaner than other Scotch whiskies. Triple distillation removes the heavy flavours and harshness. Because of the process, you can get a lot more cask character and influence.
Chapter 7 Whisky’s single cask has matured for 22 years. That long maturation has developed a beautiful spirit. This is their first Lowland whisky, and it's a special one. It was worth waiting for.
