Mannochmore 13 Year Old Tasting Notes

Woody's tasting notes

Nose: Fresh sweet grass, lemon, grape, almond, butter and toffee.

Palate: Refreshingly floral, citrus fruit, lemon & blood orange, butter, honey and traces of wood spices

Finish: Oily, floral, with oak

Ed's review

Colour: Natural colour, medium amber. Coats my glass with thick oily legs.

Nose: Rich malt loaf spread with farmhouse butter on the kitchen's oak table. Mixed red berries and star anise. Stewed apple compote with flecks of vanilla. Alcohol is well integrated with no burn.

Palate: Full mouthfeel. Juicy fruit, Autumnal apples and pears, macerated forest berries. Christmas oranges studded with cloves and a touch of wood spice. The alcohol is well integrated adding body without any burn.

Finish: Long finish, rich and fruity. Orange liqueur and brown sugar. Just a hint of menthol and a little bright spice to end on.

Overall: A really lovely whisky, very much enjoying this as I welcome in the weekend on a Friday night.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
